If you haven't been to Desperate Literature yet, then read our post on it here. This charming international book store is located near metros Santo Domingo & Opera, and holds fun events from time to time that always involve a good vibe and good drinks. This Friday's event -- Tensión Cultural -- will be held from 7-9pm (free). Editors of Radiante Porvenir will read some of their favorite authors. One of the owners, Michael, will discuss weaponized poetry, and J. Chaöten will play bleak ambient wave. There will also be drinks!

Madrid has a very active TEDx community. Every year, the city holds a major TEDx Madrid event for up to 600 people. Every month, free TEDx salons are held at La Casa Encendida where they screen past TED talks followed by open audience discussion. And throughout the year, local neighborhoods host their very own talks, such as TEDx Cibeles and even TEDx Gran Vía.
